The Community Hub with Lifestyle by Homecare Services
Here at Newtons we are all about community and that is something we also love to harbour within the local community as well as Newtons internal community. That is why we have teamed up with Lifestyle by Homecare Services to help create our new community hub at the front of Newtons!
What used to be the central area for coworking within Newtons has recently been cleared out ready for a revamp to become a community hub centre that Lifestyle by Homecare Services will also be occupying when the centre is not booked out. This comes after the coworking area moved into The Coach House in May of 2022.
The revamp
Once we decided that our co-workers were going to move into The Coach House, we were delighted to discuss the possibility of having a community focused hub in Newtons.
Lifestyle by Homecare Services then contracted T W Renovations come into Newtons and begin working on the space adding seating, shelves and a kitchenette area. As well as fixing the flooring and opening up the window space. They did an incredible job as always and really stepped up highlighting the potential within the space. The excitement of seeing the final product has definitely been raised since and we can’t wait to get started on the next stages.

So, to keep the community spirit alive and get involved in those around Lifestyle have teamed up with The Derby High school and are giving some of the students an opportunity to work on the interior design for the hub, pioneering the space into a true community hub! We all met with Lyn Provoost from Derby High to discuss the space and teaming up for it’s development.

We will be keeping you updated over the coming months to keep you informed about how far along the journey we are! So far we have had a kitchenette sorted as well as adding some storage, seating and new flooring foundations. We are so excited to share the results with you!
If you are a part of, or know of any local groups that would be a perfect for this kind of community space don’t hesitate to either send them some info or get in touch with us. We cannot wait to have an incredible range of people coming together as one in a place designed to create and harbour community spirit!
The Derby High Garden Party
On 14th July, we were invited to attend the Derby High Garden Party and given the opportunity to meet some of the students who will be designing the space down at Newtons in person. The Garden Party saw the unveiling of SUSTAIN – a space for changemakers. Last year the Transport for Greater Manchester gave schools the opportunity to apply for a decommissioned school bus and Derby High managed to get a hold of one, turning it into a sustainable space for changemakers!
The Garden Party saw the cutting of the ribbon to officially declare the SUSTAIN – a space for changemakers as open with Carl Austin Behan performing the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The project was an incredible thing to witness come to volition, as it was the result of numerous collaborative efforts from both the school community and volunteers. Community is at our core so we really appreciate the collaborative effort that made such a wonderful project possible.
