Coworking is still a concept that can be shrouded in mystery and depending on where you are, can be something that you may not have heard about at all. But it is something that is gaining traction in the world of work and becoming more and more popular amongst the masses. Since 2020 40% of the global workforce has consisted of freelancers, solopreneurs, temps and contractors and over 55% of all co-workers are made up from freelancers alone. This proves that coworking is on the up and has been since its explosion as a concept in 2005.

One of the reoccurring questions about coworking is what kind of benefits it actually has on your working day. Productivity is something that is constantly brought up. The ability to create personal connections within a coworking community means people are less likely to feel lonely and as a result feel more engaged and motivated to work. All of these things add up to create an environment where productivity is boosted.
What else can it provide?
Coworking provides an environment that is comfortable and stress free, where people report feeling healthier whilst working. The positive space and lack of rigidity found within a traditional office space, means that people get all the positives of working from home, whilst being surrounded by other people. Mentally, people report feeling happier which in turn means that they feel healthier when surrounded by other likeminded people.
How many coworkers are there?
Coworking is constantly increasing in popularity and more and more people are choosing coworking over traditional office spaces. It is expected that by 2020 at least half of the global workforce will have tried coworking.
What about growth?
As mentioned previously, coworking is on the up and up and so where there are co-workers, there needs to be coworking spaces. Globally the number of spaces is increasing year by year, increasing from 1000 – 20,000 in the space of 9 years. It is definitely a market that will continue to rise in popularity for years to come!
